TRIS
Two decades of public transport operations, still evolving.
Overview
TRIS is a custom-built system that handles many operational parts of Transperth’s business for the Public Transport Authority of Western Australia. It has evolved over two decades as demands and technology have changed.
I joined through Jacobs in October 2022 as a senior software engineer and serve as the ColdFusion technical architect for the TRIS team, overseeing how the system is designed, developed and implemented.
What I did
- Oversee the design, development and implementation of TRIS as its ColdFusion technical architect.
- Work with stakeholders to understand strategic requirements, assess ongoing projects and build support for initiatives.
- Manage ColdFusion servers across every environment, including updates and patches for security and stability.
- Monitor server performance and troubleshoot issues promptly.
- Compile, acquire and manipulate spatial data in GIS environments to support Transperth’s mapping and geographical applications.
- Build complex ColdFusion components, including custom tags, CFCs and scheduled tasks.
- Optimise ColdFusion code for performance and scalability.
- Integrate applications with third-party APIs and services.
- Implement automated deployment and continuous integration.
- Provide technical guidance and mentoring to junior developers on the team.
