## Questions

### Who is Madhab Dhakal?

Madhab Dhakal is a senior software engineer and ColdFusion technical architect based in Perth, Western Australia. ### What does Madhab Dhakal specialise in?

Madhab Dhakal specialises in long-lived business systems, particularly Adobe ColdFusion architecture, server management, performance tuning and integrations. Madhab also works with Java, C#, ASP.NET, Oracle, SQL Server, Microsoft Azure, AWS and ArcGIS for spatial data.

### What projects has Madhab Dhakal worked on?

Notable projects include architecture for TRIS at Transperth, Pumori Support Plus (adopted by over 130 banks and financial institutions in Nepal), the CRM Renewals subscription platform at CRM Australia, and the Multi Dynamic Real Estate website.

### Is Madhab Dhakal available for freelance or consulting work?

Yes. Madhab Dhakal is available for freelance work and consulting, and can be contacted at hi@madhabdhakal.com.np or +61 433 516 355.

### Is ColdFusion still a good choice for business applications?

In Madhab Dhakal’s experience it can be, when used well. Paired with the right architecture and modern development practices, ColdFusion can still power robust, scalable and secure applications, including integrations with Azure AD single sign-on and AWS services such as S3, Lambda and RDS.

### How should a legacy ColdFusion application be modernised?

Incrementally rather than with a full rewrite, because legacy systems often hold deeply embedded business logic and hidden dependencies. Madhab Dhakal’s approach is to redesign smaller, modular components that work with the existing code, and to show stakeholders measured results after each update.

### Can ColdFusion use Azure AD single sign-on?

Yes. Register the application in Azure AD, enable ID tokens, configure the OpenID Connect endpoints in ColdFusion, redirect users to the Azure AD login page, then validate the returned ID token and store the user’s session.

### What qualifications does Madhab Dhakal have?

Madhab Dhakal holds a Master of Information Technology (2021) and a Graduate Certificate of Information Technology (2020) from the University of Newcastle in Australia, a Bachelor of Science and Information Technology from Kuvempu University (2016), and an Advanced Diploma in Information Technology from NIIT in Bangalore (2016).
